👋 Introduction
MedTracker ("the app", "we", "our") is a personal medication reminder app available on Android and iOS. This privacy policy explains what information the app handles, how it is used, and your rights as a user.
We believe your health information is yours alone. The app is designed from the ground up to keep all your personal health data on your device.
📦 What Data the App Collects
The following information is stored locally on your device only:
- Medication names and dosages that you enter manually
- Scheduled dose times and frequency you configure
- Optional notes you add to a medication
- A local record of whether each dose was marked as taken, skipped, or missed
- Your notification preferences
This data is saved exclusively in a local database on your device. It is never uploaded, synced, or sent to any server.
Separately, the app displays advertisements provided by Google AdMob. AdMob collects a limited set of non-health information for advertising purposes as described in the "Advertising" section below.
🔔 Notifications
The app uses your device's local notification system to remind you to take your medications at the times you set. On Android, this uses the system notification service. On iOS, this uses Apple's UserNotifications framework. In both cases, reminders are generated entirely on your device and no notification content is sent to any external server.
You can turn reminders on or off at any time inside the app under Settings → Medication Reminders. Each reminder also includes a "Snooze 15 min" action to delay the notification briefly.
🔒 Data Storage & Security
All app data is stored in a private local database accessible only to the MedTracker app on your device. On Android, it is protected by the system's app sandboxing. On iOS, it is stored in the app's private container protected by iOS data protection.
When you delete a medication, the app retains your dose history so your past records remain intact. If you uninstall the app entirely, all data is permanently removed from your device.
📺 Advertising
MedTracker is free to use and supported by advertising. Ads are provided by Google AdMob, a service operated by Google LLC. A single banner ad is displayed at the bottom of the Today screen inside the app.
To serve advertisements, AdMob may collect and process the following information from your device:
- Your device's advertising identifier (a resettable identifier managed by Android or iOS)
- IP address, which AdMob uses to determine approximate location (country/region) and to prevent fraudulent ad activity
- Device information such as make, model, operating system version, and language
- Interactions with the ads shown in the app (impressions and clicks)
AdMob does not receive any of your medication data, notes, dose history, or other health information from MedTracker. The ad service operates independently from the medication tracking features of the app.
You can review Google's privacy practices for AdMob at policies.google.com/technologies/ads and Google's overall privacy policy at policies.google.com/privacy.
To limit ad personalisation you can reset or opt out of the advertising identifier at any time in your device settings:
- Android: Settings → Google → Ads
- iOS: Settings → Privacy & Security → Apple Advertising and Settings → Privacy & Security → Tracking
🛠 Third-Party Services
Besides Google AdMob (described in the Advertising section above), MedTracker uses:
- Google Play In-App Review on Android and Apple StoreKit on iOS to occasionally invite you to rate the app. This interaction happens entirely within the platform's own system and does not share any personal or health data with us or any third party.
MedTracker does not integrate any third-party analytics, crash-reporting, cloud-storage, or social-media services. No personal medication or health data is shared with any third party for any purpose.
👦 Children's Privacy
MedTracker is not directed to children under the age of 13, and we do not knowingly collect any personal information from children. Because the app stores no health data externally, it poses no privacy risk to users of any age from the medication tracking features. Parents or guardians may use the app to manage medications on behalf of a child.
Advertising served by AdMob may not be appropriate for younger audiences. If you believe a child has been served ads through MedTracker, please contact us at the email below.
⚖ Your Rights & Data Deletion
Because all your medication data is stored locally on your device, you have full control over it at all times. You can:
- Delete individual medications or dose history directly within the app
- Remove all app data permanently by uninstalling the app from your device
- Reset or opt out of ad personalisation via your device's advertising ID controls (see the Advertising section)
For data collected by Google AdMob, you may exercise your rights (including access, deletion, and objection) directly with Google through the controls described at policies.google.com/technologies/ads.
This policy is governed by the laws of the European Union (GDPR) where applicable to EU residents, and by applicable local laws for all other users.
🔄 Changes to This Policy
If this policy is updated in the future, the revised version will be published at this URL with an updated date at the top. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes on the App Store and Google Play.
